I think in other forums when speaking about hotlinking people are asked to upload an image on their own webspace so the one who originally posted something doesn't get too much traffic on his account. If I'm not mistaken. But I wonder if people then wont complain cause of "stealing" pictures. And in the end: if people click the links here, or are asked to visit the FOH Forum and click there: does it make a difference?

Yes I think it makes a difference because the scans aren't hosted at FOH.com, the link is to thulsadoom's personal photobucket so everytime someone views, it takes some of her bandwidth. It's a shame because she bought the magazine, scanned the pics and hosted them herself, then everyone links to her photobucket and takes even more, rather than hosting her scans themselves.

See, that's what I don't get. FOH was just an example. If this girl or guy uploads these scans on own webspace and the link is spread, be it in a forum or via email, where is the difference? If he or she is afraid of bandwidth problems, why make the scans in public available? And if people do as you said, uploading her scans on their own webspace, I guess there will be complaints about stolen scans. It happened already in the past.
