I bought a copy of 666 WTL ($800) and wonder if anyone knows how you can tell a real one from a fake one? The people I bought it from are flying to my city to personally hand it to me. Even if it has the actual digipack CD cover and art work and has the official scratchy looking artwork on the CD itself, could it sill be a fake somehow? Does anyone have a copy of the real 666 WTL and does it have any distinguishing marks that show it's the real thing? Evelyn, if you see this, maybe you could offer some input. You seem particularly aware of this issue.

I can send you some pictures of my copy (I've had a few), if you want to see what a original one looks like and what texts should be on it. :)
PM me your email address!

If it's Ville's mother on the cover it's ok.
If it's Ville's father start doubting.

Apart from kidding, I can take some pics of mine, contact me if you need help!

And if this are the quotations of HIM stuff I can definitely thinking of buying a new body :yay:

If you have the money available then I guess thats not an issue but tbh I think you have been conned a little, that really is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to much to pay for that EP, even if I had the money I would never pay that for it. But I guess the fact they are flying to your city suggests it is probably real, I dont think they would go to that much effort for something which is fake. But seriously, do yourself a favour and look around more, that really is massively over priced.

 crazy, I know two people who have 666 WTL and they never paid more then £100 and that was no more then a year a go so I cant see why they have suddenly gone up so much in value.

Eight hundred bucks is a lot of money. I could've gotten it for $310 once, but I decided not to in the end. Just the fact that they're flying to your city to give it to you seems pretty sketchy to me. I'd never do a deal like that. It's almost as if you're buying drugs from them or something. Haha. I watched Scarface the other day. I apologize. Still, it's weird.

The reason the seller was meeting with me personally was because it's a second copy of 666 WTL. The first one they mailed to me got lost in the mail when it was shipped to me! I was sick over the fact that this rare CD was out there somewhere and nobody could find it! It's still a mystery, and I'm hoping it turns up eventually. So, at the seller's own expense, they got another 666 WTL for me from Finland and came to my city to personally hand it to me to be sure this one didn't get lost or stolen in the shipping process. The CD is the real thing, and has been a real privelege to hear HIM as they truly are (were). I sat and compared the 4 songs on the EP to later releases of the same songs, and it became clear how producers and commercial interest can ruin a band (nothing new, right?) For me, 666 WTL is the only true representation of what HIM is (was) with all the muscle and edge of the band as players and the vibrant urgency in Ville's voice. I wasn't just hearing HIM as they truly were ... I was witnessing it.

I know this all sounds melodramatic, but after hearing the EP, one can see how HIM went from granite to lucite in a very short period of time (1996 to 1998 with the release of GLS). Even GLS already showed how much HIM had changed in just two years. However ridiculously expense 666 WTL was, it was worth it for the privelege to go back in time and hear a band as they truly were before the industry got its meat hooks into them. In a way, after hearing 666 WTL, HIM died a long time ago for me, somewhere between the release of 666WTL and Greatest Love Songs. Even on GLS, the band had drastically changed, and Ville had lost his edge already. Of course, HIM has had its great moments on their subsequent albums, and I don't mean to put down their work on RR, DSBH, Love Metal ... but if any HIM fan has a chance to hear these guys on 666 WTL, you'd probably understand everything I've just said.

If Hiili is going to be producing their next record, I hope he hasn't forgotten what he too "witnessed" when he produced 666 WTL all those years ago.

GLS is the best album -_- the EP is good, but not as good.

Anyway, strikes me as odd that it could get lost, just send it registered/recommended and it can be tracked. And also that they could even get you a new one without touching the price... sort of says you've paid an overprice and they still made money on the deal despite them getting a new one, assuming the two were/are real to begin with.

Yeah that sounds more then odd tbh, I'm surprised the dealer even bothered going to the effort of buying another one just so they can sell it to you, I dont wish to sound cynical but it sounds so unbelievebly dodgy. The fact they went to that much effort and even to hand it to you personally suggests they have made an amazing deal on this ... they probably wouldnt of lost any money out of the original going missing because Registered/Recommended is insured as far as I'm aware. Have you managed to get it checked yet?
