The K! Quiz
How smart are your fave stars? We test them to find out!
This weeks competitor: Ville Valo
Specialist subject: "I know a lot about a little, but not very much about a lot."
1. Venus was the name of the roman god of love, beauty and fertility...
"Aphrodite."
Kerrang: Impressive. We didn't even finish the question. The rest of it was: what was her name in Greek mythology? So you're right
(answer: Aphrodite)
2. Venus Doom was nominated for a grammy for best boxed/special limited edition packaging in 2008. What did it lose to?
"It was something shit but i can't remember. I was in Finland and it was held in LA, so because of the time difference, I found out the next day that we lost. I think it was some sort of country and western box set"
(answer: What it is!: Funky Soul and Rare Grooves (1967-1977).
3. Which renowned idiot got himself tattooed with a "dickagram" instead of a heartagram?
"Well, that would be [Jackass star] Steve-O. He's a lovely guy so i hope he's doing well; i haven't seen him in ages. The last party i went to before going into rehab was with Steve-O. i'm not blaming him, I should say"
(answer: Steve-O)
4. Which Finnish athlete, singer and actor is celebrated by a statue in Oulunkylä, the district in which you grew up?
"Tapio Rautavaara. He's one of my biggest influences. I even tried to buy his house once. He lived very close to where I grew up and my dad, who was once a ttaxi driver, used to drive him to the booze shop"
(answer: Tapio Rautavaara)
5. Who also lived in the same area when hiding from the russian police?
"Who the fuck was it... Hang on... Lenin! Tapio Rautavaara used to talk about it, coincientally. I'm doing quite well at this quiz, aren't I? I'm actually really pissed off i missed the Grammy thing.
(answer: Vladimir Lenin)
6. When is HIM's bass player, Migé Paananen's, birthday?
"December 19. That's one of the only birthdays i remember. He normally goes out to the countryside and steals a Christmas tree to celebrate. I don't even know when my parents' birthdays are. They have to remind me"
(answer: December 19.)
7. What, according to the legendarily accurate information source wikipedia, was the working title of your second album Razorblade Romance?
"Gotham Roll"
Kerrang: Not according to wikipedia.
"Well, Gotham Roll was the working title. What does wikipedia say? Slippery When Dead? That's wrong. We made a T-shirt with that on but we never referred to the album as that.
Kerrang: You know best! Another point.
(wikipedia answer: Slippery When Dead; actual answer: Gotham Roll)
8. 'She saw my silver spurs and said let's pass some time' What's the next line?
"Blah, blah, blah summer wine. Do i get a point?"
Kerrang: "No"
"I was so fucked up when we recorded that song - I blame drink and drugs for forgetting the lyrics! We recorded it in Hamburg, where i have a lot of friends. All i remember from that session was a succession of titty bars. In the four days i was there, I slept for three hours. It was a blast but the recording was a bit hazy. Just watch the video if you want to see how fucked up i was. I had to have a lyric sheet in front of me because i couldn't even remember the words on the shoot."
(answer: 'and i will give to you summer wine')

10. In that case, you should know this. After which Napalm Death release did Lee Dorrian leave the band to form Cathedral?
"Shit, can you give me a clue?"
Kerrang: It was an EP rather than a full album"
"In that case, i probably don't know. I know which albums he sang on. He was on Scum and From Enslavement To Obliteration, so he must have left after those. Give me another clue"
Kerrang: "It's a two-word title and the first word refers to the mind, while the second refers to death"

14. Which musician, other than you, released an album called Dark Light?
"Fuck, I didn't realise anyone else had! I check and double-check that sort of thing. I ripped it off from a book by a Norwegian author. Was it someone famous? I hope it's someone like Rick Wakeman!
Kerrang: It was a Gary Numan live album.
"Ah! I appreciate Gary Numan and his music but i'm not sure i actually like it too much. It's a bit too cold for me"

"I'm not even fucking English and you're asking me these questions to answer? I'm going to go with the 'something to do with wasting time' option"
(answer: b )
How Ville scored: 9 out of 15
The K! veredict: A strong start in which Ville even pointed out the errors in the quiz. But not being able to remember your own songs is unforgivable! A strong local knowledge rescued the Finnish singer, though, resulting in a solid score.
