i wasn't sure if i should post this here or in news... but well
according to the new Kerrang, Ville says he's leaving Finland if they pass the anti-smoking law, to make Finland the first non-smoking country in the world
he says that it makes Finland a crappy country and that he'd rather live in Sweden or Russia, and not because he loves smoking but because he should be able to decide what to do with his lungs

i agree with Ville (i'm not even a smoker) and i can't believe they're passing that law... :nea:

Quite radical, from both sides.... Are there good chances for this law?

Ville is right. He should be able to do whatever he wants with his lungs.
That's a crazy law.

The draft legislation seeks to make Finland smoking-free not by an outright ban on smoking, but by methods such as limiting the visibility and availability of tobacco products.

I don't know how far this limiting is supposed to go if they speak at the same time of being the first country worldwide making it a law, it's probably not just no smoking on school yards and public buildings etc (what we have here). Where is this supposed to lead to? Enormous sugar consume, and in ten years sweets will be banned as well for a dramatical increase of diabetis amongst the population?

I`m absolutely agree with him. To struggle with this bad habit is a good thing, but that Finland will be the first non-smoking nation is a paranoia, i think. ok, and i`m sure that the smokers will be hide in the cellars to smoke.maybe i`m wrong. :dntknw:

Interesting.

While I think it's a little extreme of Finland to put a blanket ban on smoking, at least they're not as hypocritical as most other countries in the western world that are raking in millions in taxes from cigarettes while at the same time arresting people for smoking marijuana, which by all studies has shown is a much less harmful drug.

Ville's stance on this, if it's true, is just lulzy and stupid.

Actually wouldn't make smoking more appealing to people then? it's always the case, happens with other drugs. People like Ville would not stop smoking just cuz he was told not to.

I doubt that's his point.

Anyhow, it's crazy.... Seriously.... silly idea to forbid smoking. Next we forbid alcohol again. That's a drug as well. Oh and you know, due to personal issues I've been kinda addicted to my bf, which was highly unhealthy, can we forbid love for unstable people too? =D

It's a different kind of addiction and wasn't meant to be taken literally.... I meant to underline that the law is silly.
But to answer your question, yes we hurt each other without knowing, and damaged our health.

I smoke but I can understand why places like here in the UK have banned smoking in public places - it is an unpleasant habit, & if you're smoking around other people you can damage their health too. But if Finland is looking to ban smoking altogether, even in the privacy of your own home, then I totally understand Ville's point. It's not necessarily that he cares so much about his smoking habit, it's the principal of the thing - he should be able to go home & have a cigarette in the same way that he should be able to go home & drink a beer, as long as he's not hurting other people..

hi everyone,

I´ve heard ville was trying to quit smoking. He said it some weeks ago on a gig in usa. Do you know anything about it? Is he still "clean"?
