thanks cyanea!!!

evelyn - well, if it's not, she can check out most of my others at www.joinmeindeath.tk (made it today purely to put my pictures and video's up:P)##only - I'll have to upload the rest tomorrow because I do them at work (in a pub - where I've been playing HIM and Dommin ALL day, and just witnessed a car crash outside - everyone okay though!)

Hey everybody I went to the Nottingham show saturday night and I gotta say I wasnt overly impressed to be honest. Ville just seemed devoid of energy and looked tired to me and his voice I didnt think was anywhere near top form. It was definately nowhere near the standard of the Valentines show in London last month. Dommin were actually better than I expected and I really enjoyed their cover of Cutting Crews I just died in your arms tonight. To make up for the average gig me and friend met Mige near Nottigham train station the next day which was awesome, he's so nice and friendly!!I hope the pic works

Was the tour that exhausting already? And it just started....

The picture link doesn't work unfortunately, even if you copy paste it. How are the settings of your album? If it's set to private probably just your friends can see it. There are some other options like "viewable to everybody else" or something.

It should work I think I posted the link twice thats all. You only need one of the them. Failing that just search for 'James Nathan Chapman' my profile isn't private. It never has been to my knowledge.

Cynea its just my opinion but I honestly thought Ville wasnt that interested at all, I thought maybe he was ill or something. To be fair towards the end of the concert Ville was interacting alot more with the audience and seemed to be having more fun. I thought the Valentines show, although a little short due to technical problems was very good.

Evelyn - could this be the sex face?

Hmm, not sure if that comes close to a sex face.... could be as well something else. Let's wait for Lintti Lovers answer, she gave that face a name.

haha, well maybe you won't agree with sex face but its definately a -bad- guitar face! huggybecky got quite a bit of photographic evidence, these are just a couple I've nicked from her to show you (hope you don't mind becky)..

Guitar face 2
sorry theyre a bit small, resized them a tad too much!

I can't believe no one else spotted it, because it wasn't just a one off, he did it throughout the gig really obviously! Maybe he was a tad angry at this particular gig? lol. Amused me anyway!

maybe you're right,i don't now,i didn't get the impression that he wasn't interested at all... he didn't seem to be too much into it either
i guess i was a bit disappointed about the Valentine's gig because it was supposed to be a special show and it wasn't really that special... i agree the band was really good and everything... but it wasn't that different from the Brimingham or the Nottingham show... the Birmingham show was even better because they played Soul of Fire and Your Sweet 666... and because they played a complete setlist and they didn't make the people wait 2 hrs before they came out on stage...i guess that's my problem, instead of it being a special gig, there were a few things that made it even less special... but that's just me!
and maybe that wasn't their fault... i don't know, but there just wasn't anything that made that show truly memorable over other shows... maybe my expectatios were too high because of all the promotion that made such a fuss about the show...

Own and high expectations are probably always a pain in the ass. I was at a Depeche Mode gig some months ago, with absolutely no expectations at all. We ended up in the front of stage area, row four between Martin and Dave and in the end Dave pointed laughing into my sisters camera which made us in a daft way happy for an hour or two. Next day online there have been quite some people complaining about the gig and the band, and I was so wondering which concert they've been to....

So I'm going to Philly tonight. I'll have a review/hopefully pictures up either way late (early AM for the cats in the EU) or tomorrow at some point.

I'd say take your time, but hey, that'd be a lie....

Seriously, enjoy the gig! Cameras can take away so much. I didnt try a lot to take pictures cause the few I took ended up crappy anyway and I did't want to spend all of the time getting a cool picture (to my excuse: new camera, not concert tested yet). Hope it's gonna be a great show tonight

HIM - Philadelphia, PA - 3/26/10

Good morning, America. Good Afternoon, Europe. I just woke up after last night's first show of the US tour. Let's talk about the openers. Drive A wins the "what the hell are they doing on this tour" award considering they're a punk band that reminds me of Anti-Flag. Not to say that's a bad thing. They were actually the opener I enjoyed. They're a bunch of kids from Los Angeles playing punk rock, how could that be a bad thing? Bought the CD. Dommin was up next. The best way I can describe this is if the 69 Eyes and Glenn Danzig had mediocre children. I didn't particularly dig the singer's voice. It felt like he was trying to be Danzig real bad...right down to the devil lock. There were bells in every song. It felt like they were trying too hard. Next was We Are The Fallen. I had forgotten who they were until I saw their merch. Here's some math and it'll sum up how I felt...
(3 guys from evanescence + a new bassist) - Amy Lee + girl who was on American Idol = We Are The Fallen
We Are The Fallen falls into the same trap as Evanescence, every song might as well be the same song. The only interesting thing they did was a cover of Flight Of Icarus, which is one of my favorite Iron Maiden songs.

OK, on to the main event. Here's the setlist:
Like St. Valentine, Right Here In My Arms, Rip Out The Wings Of A Butterfly, Heartkiller, The Kiss Of Dawn, Join Me In Death, Katherine Wheel, Poison Girl, Buried Alive By Love, Disarm Me (With Your Loneliness), Wicked Game, Your Sweet Six Six Six, Scared To Death, When Love And Death Embrace
Encore: Love The Hardest Way, The Funeral Of Hearts

One thing I have to say. Sobriety has improved Ville's live vocals. I've noticed this the past two tours. The performance has been better since he started drinking coca-cola as opposed to chasing jagermeister with heinekins. The show was exactly what you'd expect from the boys. You get the songs you think you're going to get. You leave going, "that was awesome and they didn't play anything from Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights, or these other 20 or so songs I wanted to hear." I was very happy with the choices off the new album and pretty much predicted all but Love The Hardest Way. Other than that, the only news is Ville's short hair. It's a good look for him. All in all it was a fun night. Good show.

Here's the link to some photos, keep in mind they were taken with my cell phone.

Three support bands... I'm so glad we only had one. How was the mood on stage? And do I detect a sexface in these pictures?

Thanks for sharing, gecko! Good to read you've had a good time :)

Linde was definitely rocking his sex face. The mood on stage was good. Ville and Mige were having fun with each other and everyone else looked as they normally do.

thanks for the review gecko!!
i didn't think Dommin were too bad, but i only heard like the 3 last songs of the setlist and they were the only opener so i didn't have anyone else to compare them with (except the opening bands for 30STM and i probably like Dommin better)
i'm glad you enjoyed it though! :)
oh and completely i agree about Ville's vocals being better now!!

You know what it is. I just don't buy it coming from the Dommin guy. To me gothic style music was always European. Or at least always done well when it comes from Europe. And when anyone over here did it, they made it their own. Trent Reznor, Al Jourgensen, and Danzig all come to mind. Then there's Christian Death and 45 Grave that did it more with a punk edge that lead to bands like The Misfits and AFI.
