So, finally I can post a link to the review I wrote for The Gauntlet.com.
I've been waiting for this for a while, to share my thoughts and opinion on the upcoming album with you all.

I hope you will all enjoy it and get curious about the album, it is a great album and I can't wait til you guys get to hear it and to discuss it with you!

Quote

When Finnish self-proclaimed love -metallers HIM release their 7th studio album, titled Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice (out February 2010), they're not channeling the melancholic, gloomy and sometimes depressed sound from their earlier releases. Maybe front-man and the band’s main songwriter Ville Valo's sobriety has something to do with it. This is the first album he writes while being completely sober and as Ville himself has said in various interviews, that instead of putting energy into going to bars, he put it into his songwriting.

Read the rest at The Gauntlet.com

And post more reviews you find!

Enjoy!

OMG Lee, you almost gave me a heartattack there!

I'm so glad that you all enjoyed it!
I really loved doing it and I hope I will get other chances to write for either the Gauntlet or other places!
Was wonderful and nervewrecking at the same time!!

well, what can i say? good written, emotions are described, interesting way of reaction on what you heard. But like i said before with all respect to people who wrote their own opinion, i need my own. Hope that every one of us can write his or her own review as soon as possible.

ps thank you

This was quite in detail, too, and made me even more curious. This part here is so true:

Also, with a band like this, for every person that laughs at some obtuse metaphor for depression there is one or ten people that find it to be the most beautiful thing they’ve ever heard. That’s just how it goes.

 :dntknw:
With the way I got to listen to the album it was pretty much impossible to leak it.
I got a link to a streaming-player which had to be accessed with a special username and password.

I'm not saying you will or should leak it. It's just journalists will all have it by now.

Your comment about the more light-hearted tone in this LP immediately reminded me of what I said in 2007 about Venus Doom:

Quote

'Venus Doom', if I'm to believe what Petal Hammer and all the other used-to-be-metal magazines are saying, is the creative product of front man Ville Valo's steps down the dark roads of depression and alcoholism. If that's true, then frankly I wouldn't mind much if he had to go down that road a few more times because said creative product here is, indubitably, a remarkable step up in quality songwriting and overall heaviness from its predecessor.

Amusing contrast.

One of Sweden's biggest newspapers gave the album 4 out of 5.

Sweden Rock MAgazine gave it 8 out of 10.

No, journalists and reviewers always receive copies of albums ahead of relasedates.
I reviewed it for thegauntlet.com and I got it on December 3rd.

It is not so usual those positive reviews to the HIM albuns! What is happening?

Is it really a great album or are they paying to the reviewers finally? :pardon:
