I had heard there is to be a new cd entitled "FIRE IN THE NIGHT" to be realesed in 2010? i was wondering if anyone else has heard about this or knows anything regarding this..

Earlier this year, Ville stated that they'll start writing new material after the festival season.
But I wonder how there can be an album name if they haven't even written the music, yet?

I've heard that they'd go to studio in January? And Ville said in some interview some week ago that he has already some material for the new album.

But where did you rip that name?

First of all, there is no chronological order in which names are thought up while putting together a CD...the name Love metal was was intended on being a CD title long before they started working on the songs..and further more my knowledge of the upcoming CD title is not definitive hence why i asked about it i had come across the name on wikipedia while reading through the discography.

in the sonic seducer they talk to ville and he said that now will take a real break for several months. the songs he wrote till now (10 or 15) do only exist in acoustic versions and he doesn`t know if in the end they will be on the new album or they feel very different after this time period

watch the new toazted.com interview but all the 3 parts of it.he says the new cd will be released during the summer.he says august the 18th but I'm sure it's not the right one.'cause hi had said octomber 1st for venus doom and it was released much earlier.so one thing is sure the new cd will be released next year.

This is almost 3 months old (but hasn't been posted in this thread before):

“We’re in the songwriting phase, but I always am so it never stops,” explains HIM frontman Ville Valo. “The idea is to write number one hits songs… 13 of them,” he adds with a wry smile. “We’ll figure out who’ll produce it early next year and head into the studio in March or April. Hopefully we’ll be done by the festival season and be able to play new songs there. If the album doesn’t come out in autumn or winter 2009, it’ll be early 2010.”

So what can we expect from the new HIM album?

“I haven’t talked to the band for long yet, but I want to keep the songs all under five minutes and make them really punky and direct. When I say punky I don’t mean sounding like punk, I mean punk in feel. Not so much ear candy. I love over-produced albums but we’ve never tried a more stripped-down, simple approach in a Search And Destroy Iggy Pop and the Stooges type vibe. It’ll still be wanky and melancholy and have all those HIM elements, but just not so much ear candy. Venus Doom was quite a proggy album for us so I’m thinking of doing the opposite with this one.”

And as he explains, being sober has brought out his inner bastard, which we will hear on the new material: “I’m more pissed off and more aggressive. There’s no buffer between me and the real world so I’m the proper cunt I was meant to be.”

Whatever , I'm sure that they will do a great work , 'cause they play what they feel .. So there can be no bad album .
I'm really excited .. Hope it will come earlier.

I read in a recent interview (don't remember where, sorry) that they already have 12 to 13 songs and are still discussing some things about them. I guess they're in the studio already, too. I'll see if I can find the interview to post here.
But I'm pretty sure the he mentioned the same release date: early 2010.

Yes I'm pretty sure, too, I read something about early 2010 but I would like an earlier release - date. I love venus doom and I hope they won't do the opposite with the new album....but I trust them and I'm sure it will be a great album.
